Doors
Do all exterior doors have high security dead bolts?
If doors have glass is the dead bolt a double cylinder type with a key needed on each side?
Are door strikes a high security type secured into the framing studs?
Are repairs needed to upgrade the strength of the doors or frames?
Are the outside hinge pins secure?
Do the doors have wide angle viewers?
Are the locks on sliding doors sufficient?
When you move into a new residence did you
personally
have all locks re-keyed?
Windows
Are the windows all sturdy and in good repair?
Are the windows secured with high quality secondary locks?
Are windows that open onto balconies, decks, porches or fire escapes locked when you go to bed?
Are basement windows secured so they cannot be forced open from the outside?
Outside
Are the shrubs in your yard trimmed low to prevent a burglar from hiding near windows and doors?
Are all of the entrances illuminated ?
Are the basement and garage doors as secure as the other entrance doors? Garages are often overlooked.
